jQuery Week Calendar is a great almost ready out of the box application that will give you the functionality that rivals Google Calendar. With a single command you can have a basic calendar display that you can create appointments with the same amount of ease you get from using Google Calendar.

jQueryUI 1.7.x. You will also need to make sure you have the Drag, Drop, and Resize capabilities enabled.

Code Complexity
While getting the entire calendar put together will require a fair amount of coding that is beyond the scope of this article, the front end of the calendar is completely taken care of for you. You really have to define your environment and then program the back end logic. While that sounds simple, the backend programming can be a lot of work it should not be any trouble for a seasoned PHP programmer (thought you do not have to use PHP — any web programming language will do).
